Upercut Toy Design Pt 3

There are now things I need to work on for the real 250lb Uppercut and I’ve reached a pretty good stopping point on this project for the time being. The toy Uppercut, powered off AAA batteries and Hexbug Battlebot guts now works in its entirety.

The weapon assembly is belt driven off a motor hidden in the real motor tubes. The wedge is held on with magnets, whereas the top forks are bolted on.

And the toy even uses the same power button as the Hexbug toys, and has a battery cover which can be removed with one phillips screw.

Overall I’m quite happy with how this project turned out, but there is room for improvement which I may work on in the future. First, the scaling based on the toy Bite Force wheel doesn’t seem to be quite right. I want to redo the whole assembly scaled based on Bite Force’s body dimensions instead.

The battery situation is also mediocre. I had to make the chassis slightly wider than a pure scaling due to the battery size, but there might be a way to utilize more vertical real estate and less horizontal for the batteries.

Lastly the wheels. I just wrapped them in some gorilla tape to add some amount of traction, but in the future I may cast rubber ones like the real toys.

Gonna go back to real robots for a bit and leave the toys for later!
